Life in Inglewood
Inglewood is perfect if you love character and culture. Think century-old brick storefronts, antique shops, live music and a walkable strip along 9th Avenue SE, with the Bow River pathways, Pearce Estate Park and the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary right behind it. Homes are a mix of original bungalows, character infills and row-style townhomes, but most of what sells here is detached.
Who It's Right For
It’s a good fit if you want a walkable inner-city neighbourhood with its own character instead of a high-rise. Renovators and infill buyers like it too, because of the mix of heritage homes and redevelopment lots close to downtown and East Village.

Living in Inglewood
What You’ll Love
- Calgary’s oldest inner-city neighbourhood, with a character all its own and a walkable strip of antique shops and restaurants along 9th Avenue SE
- Right next to the Bow River pathway, Pearce Estate Park and the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary
- The City Centre district detached benchmark is $981,300 (CREB®, Sept. 2026), and Inglewood is often more affordable than Mount Royal and other premium inner-city addresses in the same district
- Character homes and infill lots appeal to renovators and buyers who want a unique street instead of a high-rise
Things to Consider
- A Walk Score of 44 means you’ll still need a car for most errands, well below inner-city communities like the Beltline (91)
- Older homes vary more in condition, foundations and how much renovation they need
- Fewer large, family-sized new builds than in the suburbs
- Some parts of the community are close to rail lines and industrial areas
