Life in Altadore

Altadore runs from 33rd Avenue SW in the north to 50th Avenue SW in the south, between Crowchild Trail and Garrison Woods on the west and River Park and 14th Street SW on the east. It was established in 1945, and Altadore Elementary opened in 1952.

The Marda Loop shopping district along 33rd and 34th Avenues SW is right on its north edge, and River Park on the Elbow River is a favourite for walks and dog owners. Many of the original homes have been replaced with high-end infills and semi-detached homes over the last 15 years or so.

Who Tends to Love It Here

Altadore tends to suit buyers who want a newer infill in an established inner-city area, families who want a big choice of public, Catholic, French immersion and private schools, and anyone who wants Marda Loop’s shops and restaurants on their doorstep.

Nearby: Killarney/Glengarry, Mount Royal and the Beltline. Looking at the top end? See my luxury homes.

Altadore Real Estate Market

The benchmark prices below are CREB®’s own community-level figures for Altadore wherever CREB® publishes one; any home type without enough sales this month uses the City Centre district instead, and months of supply and the sales-to-new-listings ratio are district figures. These are CREB®’s published figures, not my estimates. If you want to know what homes on a particular street have actually sold for, ask me and I’ll pull the recent sales.

Frequently Asked Questions About Altadore

Have a question that isn’t here? Ask me and I’ll get back to you, usually the same day.

Marda Loop is the shopping district along 33rd and 34th Avenues SW, on Altadore’s north edge. People often use the name for the whole area around it, including Altadore, South Calgary and Garrison Woods.

CREB®’s October 2026 benchmark prices for Altadore are $1,280,100 for detached homes and $1,059,600 for semi-detached homes. New infills in Altadore often sell well above these, so ask me for recent sales on your street.

In October 2026, detached homes in the City Centre district had 3.52 months of supply and a 61.90% sales-to-new-listings ratio (CREB®). As a rough guide, under about 3 months of supply favours sellers, 3 to 4 months is balanced, and over about 4 months starts to favour buyers. Townhomes and condos can behave differently, so ask me for the numbers on the type of home you want.

There’s a wide choice: Altadore Elementary, Mount Royal Junior High and Central Memorial High School (public); William Reid, Elboya and Western Canada for French immersion; St. James and Bishop Carroll (Catholic); and private schools including Lycée Louis Pasteur. Designated schools can change, so check the address before you buy.

River Park sits along Altadore’s east side above the Elbow River. It’s one of the city’s most popular off-leash areas.

You’ll find the closest schools, with distances, in the What’s Nearby section above. Designated schools can change from year to year, so check the address with the CBE or the Calgary Catholic School District before you buy.
