Life in Renfrew

Renfrew sits north of Bridgeland and south of 16 Avenue NE (the Trans-Canada Highway), between Edmonton Trail and Nose Hill Creek and Deerfoot Trail. During the Second World War the land was a Royal Canadian Air Force training base and airfield that also served as Calgary’s airport, and homes were built here after the airport moved, mostly from the 1940s and 1950s.

Many original bungalows have been replaced with infills and semi-detached homes, and some streets have downtown views. The Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre, indoor and outdoor rinks, Renfrew Athletic Park and soccer fields are all in the community, and shops line Edmonton Trail and 16 Avenue.

Who Tends to Love It Here

Renfrew tends to suit buyers who want inner-city living close to downtown, people buying or building an infill, and families who want parks and recreation nearby.

Nearby in the inner city: Bridgeland/Riverside and Crescent Heights. Buying your first home? See the first-time buyer programs.

Renfrew Real Estate Market

The benchmark prices below are CREB®’s own community-level figures for Renfrew wherever CREB® publishes one; any home type without enough sales this month uses the City Centre district instead, and months of supply and the sales-to-new-listings ratio are district figures. These are CREB®’s published figures, not my estimates. If you want to know what homes on a particular street have actually sold for, ask me and I’ll pull the recent sales.

Frequently Asked Questions About Renfrew

Have a question that isn’t here? Ask me and I’ll get back to you, usually the same day.

Just northeast of downtown, north of Bridgeland and south of 16 Avenue NE, between Edmonton Trail and Deerfoot Trail.

CREB® doesn’t publish a Renfrew-only number. The closest are the City Centre district benchmarks for October 2026: $992,500 for detached homes and $961,000 for semi-detached homes. I’m happy to pull recent sales for the homes you’re looking at.

In October 2026, detached homes in the City Centre district had 3.52 months of supply and a 61.90% sales-to-new-listings ratio (CREB®). As a rough guide, under about 3 months of supply favours sellers, 3 to 4 months is balanced, and over about 4 months starts to favour buyers. Townhomes and condos can behave differently, so ask me for the numbers on the type of home you want.

Yes. During the Second World War the area was a Royal Canadian Air Force training base and airfield that also served as Calgary’s airport. Homes were built after the airport moved.

The Renfrew Aquatic & Recreation Centre, indoor and outdoor rinks, Renfrew Athletic Park with a football field, and soccer fields along Nose Hill Creek.

You’ll find the closest schools, with distances, in the What’s Nearby section above. Designated schools can change from year to year, so check the address with the CBE or the Calgary Catholic School District before you buy.
