Life in Dalhousie

Dalhousie is in northwest Calgary, between John Laurie Boulevard, Shaganappi Trail, Crowchild Trail and Sarcee Trail. It was established in 1967, so many homes are original bungalows and split-levels, with townhomes and condo buildings mixed in.

Dalhousie CTrain station on the Red Line opened in 2003 in the middle of Crowchild Trail, and the community has Dalhousie and West Dalhousie elementary schools, H.D. Cartwright junior high and St. Dominic Catholic school. Market Mall and the University of Calgary are a short trip south.

Who Tends to Love It Here

Dalhousie tends to suit commuters who want a CTrain station in the community, families who want schools close by, and buyers looking for a bungalow or condo in an established area.

Nearby in northwest Calgary: Edgemont and Varsity. Buying your first home? See the first-time buyer programs.

Dalhousie Real Estate Market

The benchmark prices below are CREB®’s own community-level figures for Dalhousie wherever CREB® publishes one; any home type without enough sales this month uses the North West district instead, and months of supply and the sales-to-new-listings ratio are district figures. These are CREB®’s published figures, not my estimates. If you want to know what homes on a particular street have actually sold for, ask me and I’ll pull the recent sales.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dalhousie

Have a question that isn’t here? Ask me and I’ll get back to you, usually the same day.

Yes. Dalhousie station on the Red Line opened in 2003 and sits in the middle of Crowchild Trail along the south side of the community.

CREB®’s October 2026 benchmarks are $739,800 for detached homes (Dalhousie) and $418,500 for row and townhouses (North West district). Where CREB® doesn’t publish a Dalhousie-only figure, I’ve used the district benchmark. I’m happy to pull recent sales for the homes you’re looking at.

In October 2026, detached homes in the North West district had 2.96 months of supply and a 63.64% sales-to-new-listings ratio (CREB®). As a rough guide, under about 3 months of supply favours sellers, 3 to 4 months is balanced, and over about 4 months starts to favour buyers. Townhomes and condos can behave differently, so ask me for the numbers on the type of home you want.

Dalhousie and West Dalhousie elementary schools and H.D. Cartwright junior high are public, and St. Dominic is Catholic. Many students go on to Sir Winston Churchill or St. Francis high schools. Check the address with the CBE or the Calgary Catholic School District before you buy.

In northwest Calgary, between John Laurie Boulevard, Shaganappi Trail, Crowchild Trail and Sarcee Trail, just south of Edgemont.

You’ll find the closest schools, with distances, in the What’s Nearby section above. Designated schools can change from year to year, so check the address with the CBE or the Calgary Catholic School District before you buy.
